At Smyrna Elementary, safety and relationships go hand in hand—and Deputy William Boyette is a big part of that!
As the School Resource Officer for Smyrna Elementary and Down East Middle, Deputy Boyette helps keep our campuses safe while also building meaningful connections with students every day 🤝
In this photo, he’s taking a moment to connect—playing rock, paper, scissors with a student ✊, because those small interactions help build big trust ❤️
Through mentoring, encouragement, and fun activities like “Stump the SRO,” where he reads alongside students and answers their questions at lunch 📚🍎, he’s helping foster a love of learning and positive relationships across campus.
With recent additions like new security walls funded through bond support, our campus is even more secure, ensuring students and staff can focus on learning in a safe environment 🔒
More than an officer, he’s a mentor, a role model, and a true member of the school family ❤️
Come be part of a community where students feel safe, supported, and ready to grow 🌱

Last week, our students got a hands-on look at their future at our CTE annual Steer Your Career event 🚜✨
Fifth graders explored dozens of career paths by getting up close with vehicles used in real professions and connecting with experts in the field 🚓🚑🚛
From first responders to skilled trades and beyond, students had the chance to ask questions, make connections, and imagine what’s possible.
This is one of our favorite events of the year, and it continues to inspire the next generation 💡
A special thank you to Carteret Community College for hosting and to all of our amazing sponsors who brought out incredible vehicles for students to explore 🙌

We were honored to welcome Scott Reintgen—a former North Carolina English & creative arts teacher—who returned to inspire CCPS students with his journey to becoming a successful author 📚✨
He shared insights into his writing process and stories filled with perseverance, action, drama, and page-turning plots students truly connect with 💡🔥
Thank you for visiting and inspiring readers at Newport Middle, Morehead City Middle, Broad Creek Middle, and Beaufort Middle! 🙌📖
