Established in 1906 as Camp Glenn, this site began as a North Carolina National Guard training camp before evolving into something even greater. During World War I, it was transformed into a U.S. Navy base, and by 1920–1921, it became one of the nation’s first Coast Guard air stations ✈️⚓
As the years passed, this historic ground transitioned from preparing soldiers to preparing students. The campus became home to Camp Glenn Elementary, and later, with district growth and reorganization, it evolved into Morehead City Elementary at Camp Glenn—carrying both names and legacies forward.
Today, the school serves as a dedicated grades 4–5 campus, intentionally designed by Carteret County Public Schools to support students as they transition from primary school to middle school—giving them the confidence, independence, and academic foundation they need for what comes next 🌱
