Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Newport Elementary School—a school rooted in tradition, strong academics, and a community that takes care of one another ❤️
The Newport school community has been shaping young minds for generations. Beginning with Newport Consolidated School around 1926, local students attended school together from the elementary years all the way through high school 🌱 For decades, it served as an important gathering place and cornerstone of the Newport community.
As Carteret County grew and schools evolved, a new chapter began. When West Carteret High School opened in 1963, Newport’s high school students transitioned there, bringing the era of the consolidated school to a close. Over time, elementary and middle grades evolved into the separate Newport schools we know and love today—continuing a long tradition of learning, connection, and community 💙
At Newport Elementary, learning is hands-on and meaningful every day 💡 From strong math and reading instruction ➕📖 to creative art experiences 🎨, engaging classroom activities, and exciting field trips 🚍, students are growing academically while discovering new passions along the way.
But what makes Newport Elementary truly special is its people 💙 Families, staff, and students form a close-knit, caring school community—one that celebrates successes, supports one another, and always steps up when someone needs help 🤝
At Newport Elementary, students are building strong foundations, lasting friendships, and the confidence to thrive—both inside and outside the classroom 🌟
