The Carteret County Public School System was saddened by the confirmation from the Carteret County Sheriff’s office this afternoon of the tragedy that has deeply affected several schools in our system. According to official reports, on Sunday afternoon, a private plane crashed near Drum Inlet, NC, and there were no survivors. Several people with ties to Down East Schools, including students, were on board the plane. It has been confirmed that four students from East Carteret High School are among those who passed away in the crash.

The Carteret County Public Schools system is pleased to announce the selection of Mrs. Brooke DePinto, currently of Wake County Public Schools, as the next Principal of Beaufort Middle School.

Good evening Carteret County Schools Families. Since we will be on Remote Learning Days for Tuesday, January 18th and Wednesday, January 19th, we are offering four meal pickup locations throughout the county. The meal box pickup will contain 1 breakfast and 2 lunches. In order to adequately prepare, all pickups must be pre-ordered. The Carteret County Stuff the Bus event is coming up. Thanks to our community partners for making this event possible. The distribution day is at Parkview Baptist Church in Morehead City on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 8-11am.

Due to the wintery weather and forecasted hazardous conditions, CCPS will be operating on a Remote Learning/Remote Work Day on Friday, January 21, 2022, for the safety of our students, staff and families. Staff and families should not report to school or administrative buildings and will learn and work remotely out of precaution. Please continue to stay safe.

BEAUFORT, N.C. – The Carteret County Public School System is pleased to announce that Ms. Kim Krohn, current Assistant Principal at Croatan High School, has been named Director of Student Support Services. Ms. Krohn has experience as a teacher, a school counselor, and an assistant principal and worked as an educator in Lynchburg, VA, prior to joining CCPS in 1998. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Master of Education in School Counseling from Lynchburg College. She also holds a Master of School Administration degree from East Carolina University.

Each semester, our visual art teachers submit student art pieces for the Superintendent's Choice Art.

BEAUFORT, N.C. -- The Carteret County Public School System was recently awarded $1.93 million in state funding from nearly $400 Million awarded to schools across the state in needs-based school construction grants. Dr. Rob Jackson, Superintendent, and Mr. Richie Paylor, Assistant Superintendent of Carteret County Public Schools attended a reception in Raleigh on May 12, 2022, where grant recipients from across the state were honored.

The 2022 US News Best Elementary Schools and Best Middle Schools rankings are out, and Carteret County Public Schools is proud to announce that all schools in our system, eligible to be ranked, have earned US News “Best” rankings this year and are considered among the top 30% of schools in the state! Principal Named at Smyrna Elementary and Down East Middle Schools

The Carteret County Public School Foundation will host its third Shine the Light Gala on February 4, 2023, at the Coral Bay Club, and it would be a great way to support our school system's needs that exceed state and local funding. The funds raised from the charity event are used to support the Foundation's Student and Employee Assistance Fund, which helps in times of crisis, and the Big Rock Teaching Fellow Fund.
