BEAUFORT, NC — Carteret County Public Schools (CCPS) has named Ms. Jan Sherron, as the new NC Student Information System (SIS) Coordinator. She will oversee district student information systems and provide leadership and support to school-level data managers, replacing Ms. Anita Willis, who will retire in November.
Currently serving as Data Manager at West Carteret High School, Ms. Sherron brings more than 12 years of experience within CCPS, including service as a lead data manager and experience at both the elementary and high school levels. She has been in her current role since 2015 and was a member of the district team that guided the most recent SIS transition from PowerSchool to Infinite Campus.
“I’m excited to step into this new role, and Anita leaves big shoes to fill,” said Sherron. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to build on all she has accomplished. I’m incredibly thankful for everything I’ve learned during my time at West Carteret, including the experiences that have helped me grow and, most of all, the friendships I’ll carry with me. I’m looking forward to this next chapter and all that lies ahead.”
Ms. Sherron’s expertise includes SIS operations, data accuracy and reporting, troubleshooting, training, implementation, and cross-school coordination. She is also familiar with county and state policies and has participated in regional meetings and state conferences. Most recently, she was selected as one of three district team members for Carteret County’s Phase I Infinite Campus implementation.
“We are pleased to welcome Jan Sherron as the new Student Information System (SIS) Coordinator for Carteret County Public Schools,” said Superintendent Richie Paylor. “The interview committee was impressed by the depth of knowledge and experience she brings to this position. Her technical expertise, hands-on experience at the school level, and understanding of districtwide data needs will serve her well in supporting our schools and ensuring accurate, reliable student information. We look forward to the knowledge and collaboration she will bring to this role.”
CCPS also recognizes Ms. Anita Willis for her years of service and contributions to the district. She has served at Central Services since 2005 and is currently the most tenured employee there. During her time, she has supported the district through three student information system transitions: NCWISE, PowerSchool, and Infinite Campus.
“We hate to see Anita Willis retire, as her knowledge and expertise have been invaluable to our district,” Superintendent Paylor said. “Her years of experience and institutional knowledge will certainly be missed, and we are grateful for her many years of service to Carteret County Public Schools.”
Ms. Sherron’s start date has yet to be determined, while Ms. Willis will retire on November 24, 2026.
