MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. — The Carteret County Public School System is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Nikki Sasser as Principal of Morehead City Primary School.

Ms. Sasser brings twenty years of experience in elementary education to her new role, including the past five years serving in school administration as Assistant Principal of Bogue Sound Elementary School. She earned both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Elementary Education from East Carolina University, as well as a Master of School Administration, equipping her with the knowledge and leadership experience to guide Morehead City Primary School into its next chapter.

"My time at Bogue Sound Elementary has been one of the greatest honors of my career," said Ms. Sasser. "I have been incredibly blessed to serve this amazing community for the past five years. I am also beyond excited to begin this next chapter as Principal of Morehead City Primary School. I look forward to getting to know and serve the MCPS students, staff, families, and community."

Superintendent Richie Paylor commented, "With many years of experience as both an elementary classroom teacher and assistant principal, Ms. Sasser is well-prepared for this role. We look forward to the positive leadership and experience she will bring to the school and its community."

Ms. Sasser officially began serving as principal of Morehead City Primary School on July 9, 2026.
