West Carteret High School has been named to the College Board’s AP School Honor Roll, earning Bronze-level recognition based on strong student participation and performance in Advanced Placement coursework.
The AP School Honor Roll evaluates schools using three key indicators. To earn Bronze recognition, schools must meet or exceed the following benchmarks: 40% College Culture, 25% College Credit, and 2% College Optimization.
West Carteret High School met and exceeded multiple benchmarks, posting a 40% College Culture score, a 34% College Credit score, and a 7% College Optimization score. These results highlight the school’s success in encouraging AP participation, supporting students in earning college credit, and providing early access to rigorous coursework.
Other Carteret County Public Schools high schools also demonstrated progress on AP metrics. East Carteret High School recorded 34% College Culture, 3% College Credit, and 2% College Optimization, while Croatan High School achieved 36% College Culture, 30% College Credit, and 6% College Optimization.
College Culture measures the percentage of graduating seniors who took at least one AP exam. College Credit reflects the percentage of graduates who earned a score of 3 or higher on an AP exam, and College Optimization tracks students who completed five or more AP exams, including at least one taken in ninth or tenth grade.
