Good Evening Islander families,
This is Brooke DePinto, the principal of Harkers Island Elementary School calling with some important information for the coming week. The weekly All Call is sent out to Harkers Island families every Sunday evening and the script for the call can be located on our school website and Facebook page.
This Week at HIES:
April - National Month of the Military Child, World Autism Month, National School Library Month, and National Occupational Therapists Month
Wednesday, April 1st - DARE Graduation (5th Grade)
Thursday, April 2nd - Quarter 3 PBIS Trip, PTO Meeting
Friday, April 3rd - Easter Egg Hunt, Early Release, Report Cards
Saturday, April 4th - Core Sound Run
Quarter 3 PBIS Field Trip: We will be going to Atlantic Station Cinema to see The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and for a picnic lunch at Atlantic Beach Town Park on Thursday, April 2 to celebrate good behavior and attendance for Quarter 3.
PTO Meeting: There is a monthly PTO Meeting on Thursday at 5 PM. All parents are welcome to join as we prepare for the Easter Egg Hunt and end of year events!
Easter Egg Hunt: PTO is sponsoring Egg Hunts for all students on Friday, April 3. The K-2 Egg Hunt will be at 9:45 and the 3-5 Egg Hunt will be at 10:15. This event is for HIES students only, so please no siblings. Parents are welcome to join! Please send in 24 pre-filled (non-chocolate candy or small toys) eggs with your child by Wednesday, April 1 and send your child with a basket/bag on 4/3.
PTO Staff Lunch: Our wonderful PTO is spoiling our staff with a kick-off to Spring Break brunch. Please consider donating for this event if you can and have all food at HIES by 9 AM on Friday, 4/3.
Report Cards: Quarter 3 Report Cards are going home with all students on Friday, 4/3. Please take some time to review your child's grades and comments with them to finish out the school year strong!
Core Sound Run: The Core Sound Run is Saturday, 4/4 at the Core Sound Museum. If you signed up, please plan to meet prior to the race for a school photo!
Spring Break: We will begin Spring Break with an Early Release at 12 PM on Friday. Spring Break will be from April 6-10 and we will welcome students back on April 13. The next regular All Call will be on Sunday, April 12. Enjoy some time for rest, relaxation, and fun. Stay safe!
