To the Students and Faculty of White Oak Elementary School,

  My name is Gunnery Sergeant Matt Becker and I am _________ and ___________'s Dad. I am not sure that I can express the feeling of gratitude that I have for your support and the gifts that you so selflessly gave to me and my marines out here in Operation Iraqi Freedom. The items you sent were right on the mark and offered my marines relief in the harsh desert climate that we call home right now.

I know you are probably wondering how my unit did out here and I can tell you that they were nothing short of awesome I am part Alpha Company, 2nd Military Police Battalion and we provided security of the convoys that went from Kuwait into Iraq. To date my company has logged almost  200,000 miles of road time and I am happy to report that I have not lost any marines but had to send three home because of injuries from some shrapnel. They are all doing fine now.

I would like to thank you again for all the letters and comfort items that you sent to us. We are proud to fight and protect Americans that are as gracious and supportive as you. Your acts of kindness inspired us and gave us the little extra to keep going when the times are tough. Also some of the extra items you sent were gathered up and sent to needy Iraqi families who actually need alot of the items more than us. So not only are you supporting us but helping to promote peace between our two countries. Thank you and God bless.
