The
Arts
As an A+ school White Oak provides visual arts, music, and PE as integral parts of each child's day.
An A+ School is a school where students are taught in ways that enable them to learn and make the most of their talents in an environment which encourages learning. Daily arts instruction is combined with interdisciplinary teaching. The program is based on Dr. Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences which identifies eight intelligences. The eight intelligences are linguistic, logical-mathematical, musical, visual, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic (dance, sports, etc.), interpersonal (good with other people), intrapersonal (a good sense of self), and naturalist (science and nature).A+ Recognizes Different Learning StylesAll humans have these eight intelligences. At White Oak Elementary School we recognize the special skills and learning styles of each student. Everyone receives instruction in the following five disciplines each week: visual arts, music, PE, media and technology. Academics are always integrated in the arts.Suzan
