PAC BOARD MEETING

January 26, 2009

 

Call meeting to order.     8:58 Meeting called to order

 

Accept Minutes.     Minutes accepted

 

I.  WOES PAC Projects

Glossary of Terms - Lynn Daly  Glossary of terms is up and running on the WOES website    

Newsletter - Marsha Atwood  Marsha will post the most recent on the bulletin board.  The most recent has been sent out via email and will be handed out at Meet and Greet.

Meet and Greet – 1/27 Khristy Benson – Planned and ready to go

WOA – status of director, instructors and timeline  Pam Tanzola has stepped down from the WOA project.  Marsha Atwood and Kim Jones will work together to direct the academy until a director is found.  Yoga, Spanish, and Good News Club are currently planned and have instructors.  A PAC representative will speak at the next PTO meeting in regards to WOA.  Dates for WOA will be March 30th thru May 15th.  Sessions will be from 3:30 – 4:30 unless otherwise specified  by the instructors.

Bulletin Board – Kim Jones  The bulletin board will be updated today and there has been no feedback in the suggestions pocket.

Replacement Board Member – Discussion of possibilities to replace the member position of Pam Tanzola.  Lynn asked that members think about possibly candidates and discuss them at the February Meeting.

Board Business Member – Contacts have been made but no definite decisions yet.

Board of Education Budget Meeting – Lynn Daly – February 3rd at BOE central office.  Discussed who to ask to attend and topics to address.

 

II.       New Business

          What have you heard?     No topics to discuss

 

III.     Curriculum - Ms. Everett

How much homework is too much??     Mrs. Everett explained that 15-20 minutes of homework per grade level is appropriate.

 

IV.     School Activities - Ms. Everett

  • January 29th – report cards go home
  • Yearbooks are currently for sale
  • February 4th – 100th Day of School – 1st Grade is having a 100th Day Celebration from 5-6 pm
  • February 12th – Teddy Bear Breakfast – school wide
  • February 16th – Optional Workday – no students
  • February 18th – Relay for Life Bow Making – 6pm
  • February 20th – Birthday Party for January and February Birthdays
  • February 22nd – Dedication of Cafeteria to Vickie Guthrie (upon approval at Feb. 3rd BOE Mtg.)
  • February 25th – Jump Rope for Heart – During encore times
  • Chocolate goes on sale today for PTO Fund Raiser

 

V.   PTO report - Martha Swiber

  • Chocolate Sale:  January 23rd – February 18th
  • Zap a Snack:     April for delivery in May for summer
  • Spring Fling – May 8th (We still need a coordinator for Spring Fling)
  • Teacher Appreciation:  May 3rd – 8th
  • Will be distributing brick information soon

 

VI.     Transportation - Ms. Everett

     Bus 157 was awarded today for January Bus of the Month
