PAC BOARD MEETING
December 15, 2008

Call meeting to order.  8:55am

Accept Minutes.    November Minutes were accepted

I.  WOES PAC Projects

          Letter in support of sidewalk project? – Lynn Daly

          Accepted and signed by Board members that were present

          Meet & Greet – 11/24 update, next date? – Pam Tanzola

Meet and greet on 11/24 was a success.  Next one scheduled for January 27^th at 2:30pm.  Members are to wear their pink shirts.

Glossary of Terms – Lynn Daly

Edits have been done and it is ready to submit to Ms. DeBurkarte.  Mrs. Everett will address who will maintain updates for the Glossary.  Discussed announcing the Glossary in the Newsletter for advertisement.

Newsletter – date of next and topics?  Marsha Atwood

·        The next newsletter will be sent out in January

·        A safety segment will be included

·        Will include a PAC Member focus

·        White Oak Academy information will be included

·        November/December “Best Bus” winners have been announced at school and will be included in the newsletter

·        Meet & Greet will be mentioned

·        Marsha will talk with Officer Mitch about adding seat belt safety information

White Oak Academy –status of instructors and timeline

·        One instructor has agreed on participating

·        The Good News Club will be advertised as part of the Academy

·        Contacts are being made to schedule more instructors for a variety of classes

     Board Business Member – suggestions

·        Board members are discussing possible options and will send the information to Mrs. Everett

II.       New Business

          What have you heard?

·        Marsha Atwood suggested that there be clarity about the reindeer breakfast – not sponsored by PTO

Silent Lunch was discussed and it was suggested that the rules be posted in the cafeteria. This has been done and Mrs. Everett will add clarity to the “For Parents only” section on the website.

III.          Curriculum - Ms. Everett

·        Continuing to work on RTI and the process

·        Second week of January – after school remediation will begin

- 3^rd – 5^th grade – letters sent home if remediation is needed

-In school remediation and enrichment will be two days a week and is already in progress

IV.  School Activities - Ms. Everett

·        Last day of school for Christmas Break is December 19^th.  There will be a sing along for students at 8:30am.

·        A+ Stars trip is January 30^th - may possibly have to reschedule

·        January 19^th is a holiday,January 20^th is an optional workday, and January 21st is a Mandatory Teacher Workday

V.        PTO report - Martha Swiber

·        Last Dairy Queen Family Night for 2008 December 15^th in Swansboro Only

·        Ladies Bazaar raised approximately $800.00

·        Santa’s Workshop is done – breakdown assistance needed

·        Breakfast with Santa was a success, again this year.

·        No events scheduled for January

·        Sidewalk bricks for sale will be available in January/February

·        Noelle Ricks is a new Vice President that has been recently added

VI.  Transportation - Ms. Everett

·        No new news

VII. Facilities/Maintenance - Ms. Everett

·        Currently working on Heating and Air adjustments

·        Security cameras and alarms are being installed in the new building

·        Alarm is set in the existing building

VIII.     Policy - Ms. Everett

·        The school website has the most current policies.  The county office is working to update them.

·        Board of Education meeting is January 6^th.  Lynn Daly will be attending

·        Remember to read Communicator
