Band Practice
Band practice will be
every Mon., Tues. and Thurs. after school till 6 p.m.
Food Lion MVP
Food Lion has partnered with the WCHS Marching Patriots and the MVP Shop and Share Program. Please be sure to visit www.foodlion.com and register your MVP number to link with the West Carteret High School Band. We shop and they share!
While
you are at Food Lion be sure to pick up a couple of name brand 2
liter sodas. The band is very thirsty after the halftime show.
Coke, Mt. Dew, Dr. Pepper and something diet are a few of the
favorites. We do not have enough for the next home game or beach/camp day on Sat. Sept. 20th.

The
WCHS Band Boosters meet the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. All band parents are invited to attend!
Next meeting will be Sept. 9th. See you there!
Orders
for sweatshirt/hoodies(grey and red), pit crew shirts and hats will be
taken at the Sept 9th meeting. Please attend and place your orders if
your student would like a WCHS Band hoodie for the Florida trip.
These also make great Christmas gifts!
This
is the best time to find out the latest band news regarding trips and
fundraising. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend
each meeting during the year.
Parents, the students need your
help. Ideas are needed for future fundraisers and for volunteers in all areas. Contact Sylvia Baumgardner, Band Booster President.
***The
WCHS Band Boosters are sponsoring a BBQ/Pig Picking fundraiser.
Each student was given 10 tickets. Students/parents are
asked to collect a $5 donation for each ticket. A Drawing will be
held on Sept. 6th for the winner of a Pig Picking for 50 guests. Menu
includes pig, slaw, baked beans, banana pudding, rolls or hushpuppies
and all the paper products! This fundraiser will help the
students raise money for their band account. Money will go towards the
Florida trip.

Booster
parents are needed to sell ride tickets at the Seafood Festival.
Each year the WCHS Band Boosters volunteer to man the ticket
booths for the festival in 3 hour shifts. This is a huge money maker
for the band. If you can help please contact Elaine Wright or
Terri Pope.
Sign up for the the WCHS Band Booster Email Blast! Sue Havlicek has agreed to send
out an email blast when ever we have news to share with band
parents. Email your name, email address and student's name to Sue
at thavlicek@ec.rr.com .

Pit Crew and Props
Dads
we need you too! Props are being built now for this years show. This years theme
is "First in Flight". Mr. Bill Adams and
his crew are building a Wright Flyer! See booster page if you can
help. They usually meet in the evening after work at
the band barn. See Scotty in the uniform room to get the
required pit crew polo shirt and cap. All pit crew must wear
these when traveling with the band. Hat and shirt cost approx.
$35.
2008 Band Trips
This year the WCHS Marching Patriots will be traveling to Orlando Florida.
They will perform at the Bands of America Florida Regional at the Citrus Bowl. Scheduled dates for the trip are Oct. 9th - 13th
2008. For the latest trip info please attend all Booster
meetings! Some details for this trip are still in planning stages. The approx. cost is $400.
Students will have a day at Disney World on the Sunday before coming
home! If you would like to chaperone on this trip please contact
Elizabeth Willis or Terry Lindner - ASAP.
Bands Of America/ Music For All
Football Games
First home game was Aug. 29th, THE MULLET BUCKET - WCHS vs ECHS.
Wow! The Mullet Bucket belongs to the Patriots this year! It was a blow out!
Score : WCHS 56 - ECHS 0
The Band showed great school spirit and encouraged the team all night! Come out and cheer with us next week.
Second home game was Sept. 4th WCHS vs Croatan HS.
Score : WCHS 14 - CHS 12 Congrats Patriots on anther great game and half-time show!
Third home game will be Sept. 26th WCHS vs JH Rose.
Band should arrive at school by 5:30 to dress in full band uniform. Game time is 7 p.m.
Booster moms are need to help on the uniform racks. Please see Scotty Henderson.
Band Camp/Beach Day
Beach
day Sept. 6th. starts out at the school for a Sat. morning band camp.
Students practice from 8 a.m.- 1 p.m., have lunch at school and then head to the beach at Fort
Macon for an afternoon of fun and games.
Transportation is provided and the Band boosters provide lunch (help is
needed). Buses will return to WCHS at 4:30 p.m. This is always a
highlight for the kids and parents.
