Band Parents - We hope you can find time to donate a few hours to
volunteer next year. There are opportunities to help in all
areas! Please attend the Band Booster Meetings to find out ways
to help. You will be surprised how much fun it is to spend time
with these kids and other band parents.

New Fundraisers and Important Dates:
May 2009
Monday May 11th @ 7:30 p.m. the WCHS Band will host the University of Alabama.
All WCHS band students MUST attend this concert.
Tues. May 12th @ 7:30 p.m. - WCHS Spring Band Concert. Band
members should be ready for warm-ups by 7 p.m. Sunday dress is
required. Admission is $4.
Thurs. May 28th @ 7:30 p.m. - WCHS Jazz Band Concert. Admission is $4.
Band members get free admission and extra credit.
Fri. May 29th @ 6 p.m. - WCHS Band Banquet - tickets $20

Sun. May 31st @ 2 p.m. - WCHS Honors Band Recital

Scrip - An Exciting New Fundraiser!
Thanks to Sue Havlicek the WCHS Band is
starting a new fundraiser that will
not cost you anymore than you would already spend at
participating
businesses. All you have to do is plan ahead. For
example-
if you shop weekly at Wal-mart, you would buy a Wal-mart gift card (from the band) for
the amount you need. The band will get a percentage of the
sale
and you spend what you would have spent there any way.
Cards
will
be ordered in bulk on a regular basis throughout the year.

program. These gift cards are also great for Christmas,
Birthdays, Weddings, Baby Showers...etc. Great Lakes Scrip Center has a
huge list of merchants to choose from.

Competitions
The Marching Patriots traveled to West Craven High School, Sat.
Sept. 27th. -
for the West Craven Band Classic. They won several first
place
titles and overall Grand Champions. CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to the Marching Patriots. They are the Grand
Champs of the SeaSide Band Classic two years in a row! WOW!
The SeaSide Band Classic is hosted by Croatan HS and
Swansboro
HS. All three county bands performed Sat. night,Oct. 25th. East Carteret won
best band in their division of A - AAA.

p.m.
Booster meetings are the best time to find out the latest band news
regarding trips and
fundraising. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend
each meeting during the year.
