v Computational Explorations on The Crystal Coast - These summer workshops are for Carteret County rising 9th - 12th graders who are interested in science, math and technology. The workshops will be at West Carteret High School from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. during the weeks of June 27 and July 11. The two workshops are Graphics and Visualization and Modeling Your World. v Calling all Seniors! Have you got a tantalizing talent...an amazing act...a rousing routine? Then take this opportunity to share it with your friends! The first annual WCHS Senior Talent Showcase will take place on Wednesday, June 8 at 7 pm in the auditorium. Sign up in room 502 or the auditorium to participate in this evening of song, dance, laughter, magic, skits and most of all...FUN! Only seniors may perform, but the show will be open to all. Proceeds from the show will go directly to your Graduation Celebration for food and prizes. Rehearsal time on the stage will be available June 2-7.
v There will be a ping pong tournament held at the West Carteret gym on Saturday May 28th. It is three dollars to participate and one dollar to watch. All proceeds will go towards the Special Olympics. Registration will start at 1:00 pm and the tournament will begin immediately after. v May 27, 2011 is the last date that Absentee Notes will be accepted for the 2010-2011 school year. If you have had any absences that were/are unexcused, notes will no longer be accepted after May 27, 2011.
v The officers of Interact Club for next year will be R Getty - President, T Jakab - Vice President, S Hopkins - Secretary, and C Henry - Treasurer. These officers need to meet with Ms. Bonnette next Tuesday afternoon, May 24th for a short meeting.
v If you babysit and want to earn some extra money this summer, see Mrs. Sartain and give her your name and credentials. She gets calls often in the summer asking for babysitters and would like to get a list compiled before summer starts.
v Rising Seniors can turn in parking lot applications this Friday, May 20th and Monday May 23rd. These two dates are for rising Seniors only. Starting Tuesday, underclassmen may hand in their applications. Students may start to pick up applications today at Officer Harman’s office door or in the front office. The cost is $25.00 for the year.
v Attention Juniors - there will be an informational meeting with Ms. Swain on Wednesday, May 25th, from 3:00-3:30 in the Media Center regarding school endorsed scholarships for this Fall. A general scholarship application will be distributed to those who are interested in the UNC-CH Morehead-Cain, NCSU Park, Davidson Belk, Davidson Bryan, and UNC-G Levine. Applications will be turned in at the beginning of the Fall semester. Please make every effort to attend.
v Attention Future Honors Biology II Students! Pick up your summer assignment from Mrs. Marsh Room 320. Due the 2nd day of school Fall 2011, August 26.
v Key Club banquet will be Wed. 5/25 at 5:30. Location will be announced by Friday. Please let Mrs. Loveless know if you plan to attend.
v If you have enrolled in Honors Chemistry II and AP Chemistry for the 2011-2012 school year there is a mandatory informational meeting in room 905 on Thursday immediately after school at 3:00. You will be receiving very important information regarding the next school year and taking an entrance exam, please make sure you are in attendance.
Sports
Patriots, on Friday, May 27th, at 6 PM, your Women's Varsity Soccer team will be playing an Alumni Match versus past Lady Patriot Soccer players elite. Please come and enjoy some fun competition between these squads. Tickets are $6 and all proceeds will go to the Patriots soccer program. To obtain a ticket, please see one of your friendly Women's Varsity Soccer Players, or you can pay at the gate on match night!

Scholarships:
Carteret County Association of Homebuilders Murdoch Scholarship Deadline is EXTENDED! – This scholarship is for students seeking a degree in construction trades or engineering. Qualifications: 2.5 GPA; financial need (Financial Information Form and FAFSA); and completed application. Requirements: application, essay, resume, transcript, and 2 letters of recommendation. Value: $1,000. Deadline: May 27TH.
The Carteret-Craven Electric Foundation Four (4) scholarships are available – two at each college – at $250 per student each semester. The scholarships are renewable for three additional semesters, for a total of $1,000 per student for two years of school. Applications are available at the financial aid offices at both community colleges or online at www.carteretcravenelectric.coop.The completed packet must be received by CCEC no later than 5 p.m. on July 11, 2011
