FINANCIAL AID

 The key to all financial aid is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form (FAFSA)

Students may file online by going to:  www.fafsa.ed.gov
You must apply for a PIN number to apply online by going
                               to
www.pin.ed.gov   Beginning this school year, paper applications are
no longer available         except upon request. You may request a paper application by calling 1-800-4FED-AID (433-3243).

Help is available through the financial aid office at Carteret Community College.

FAFSA forms should be filed as soon after January 1 as is possible.

EARN Grant: This is a new North Carolina program to provide grants to certain eligible students to enable them to obtain an education beyond high school. It provides financial assistance up to $4000 per student for the first 2 years of college. Students who graduate this year MUST attend a N.C. public college (2 or 4-year) next year fulltime, and must demonstrate financial need, assessed by the FAFSA form. It was established to lower student loan debt. So - GET YOUR FAFSA FORM DONE ASAP!!

 

 Some colleges and universities also require that you file a CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE form. Contact the college you plan to attend to determine whether they require this form, or see your counselor.
