Refresh computers so that teachers may effectively utilize NC WISE data to make informed decisions

AMTR and tech support inventories 

Our refreshment campaign has been well documented and publicized.  This year Camp Price presented to the BOE.  We also had many articles in the local newspaper and three appearances on local talk radio.  This year the BOE supported full funding for refreshment.  This is the first time in five years that this has occurred.   Initial reports from county commissioners are positive, although some cuts are expected.

 The last three tech facilitators we have hired have been excellent classroom teachers.  They are doing outstanding work as tech facilitators.

 To date we have conducted three Intel workshops that included 78 teachers.

Train all grades 6-12 teachers in the expanded literacies of the communication age

 Four schools (WCHS, MMS, AES and CHS) reported a total of 49 teachers trained in blogging.  Some stellar local examples exist and have been shared. (Butler, Lewis, Mayo, Lancaster, Poletti, Chronicle, Sheehan)

Interviews with principals

During the last few weeks of school, the initial interviews began.  These will be followed up by principal visits during July.  From the interviews, several schools (BMS, BCMS, CHS, HIES, MMS, MCPS, and WOES) are in the process of developing communities of learners that focus on data-supported problems.

Develop a series of grade level technology “experiences” that augments Computer Skills Curriculum and NETS-S

 This objective is in the early stage of evolution.  In this stage, schools are supported in developing plans to implement the NCSCoS for computer skills and information skills.  This is covered in items IV and V of the School Media Tech Planner, ’06-’07.
