The Internet Safety initiative which took place during the 2006-07 school year provided staff, students, and parents with valuable information regarding proper use of the internet.
All schools have an internet AUP which is kept on file and outlines the guidelines for internet use as well as the consequences for violations of the policy. Students and their parents/guardians are required to sign the policy and are not allowed to use the internet unless the policy is on file with the school. The technical support team can track student and teacher internet activity when necessary. They work with the ITFs and administrators to rectify problems with network and internet violations. |
|
2.2b Investigate streamlined
policies from other LEAs to implement best AUP practices. |
2006-2007 |
Revised and Board Approved AUP |
The director of technology/media, director of technical support, and the director of human resources have been working together to develop an AUP for Carteret County School personnel. The regional consultant has made suggestions of policies to review. Other district policies have also been reviewed. The acquired policies will be discussed at an upcoming county-wide MTAC meeting and a process will be established for creating the school system's policy. During the planning process for a school personnel AUP, student policies from other districts are also being examined for best practices. Carteret County's existing AUP has been reviewed and considered as a model for use by NCVPS (Karen Creech). |
