The Internet Safety initiative which took place during the 2006-07 school year provided staff, students, and parents with valuable information regarding proper use of the internet.

All schools have an internet AUP which is kept on file and outlines the guidelines for internet use as well as the consequences for violations of the policy.  Students and their parents/guardians are required to sign the policy and are not allowed to use the internet unless the policy is on file with the school.

The technical support team can track student and teacher internet activity when necessary.  They work with the ITFs and administrators to rectify problems with network and internet violations.

During the planning process for a school personnel AUP, student policies from other districts are also being examined for best practices.

Carteret County's existing AUP has been reviewed and considered as a model for use by NCVPS  (Karen Creech).
