Hacking and Vandalism
Hacking:
Hacking
is the deliberate unauthorized use, deletion, compromise, and/or modification
of one or more systems (including, but not limited to, computer hardware,
computer software, operating systems, networks, and phone systems) which
results in damage, loss of use, degraded use, injury, violation of any
applicable laws and/or invasion of privacy.
Vandalism:
Any malicious attempt to harm or destroy equipment and/or any form of hacking,
such as:
a)
Impersonation of
another user, anonymity, and pseudonyms (using another person’s login,
sending email under a false name),
b)
Communication of hate
mail, discriminatory remarks, and/or offensive, inflammatory, or inappropriate
language or profanity,
c)
Intentional obtaining
or modifying of files, passwords, and data belonging to other users.
d)
Disruption of the
work of other users,
e)
Destruction,
modification, abuse or unauthorized access to network hardware, software, and
files,
f)
Forgery or attempted forgery, modification of, disruption of electronic
mail messages (such as attempting to read, delete, or modify another user’s
mail).
Violations
and Consequences:
g)
All violators and/or
responsible parties/parents/guardians are subject to reimbursement to the
school for any expenses incurred to repair or reverse hacking actions.
h)
All violators will
lose access rights to any computer or network device.
Exception: Students will be allowed to complete
computer-required school assigned work only under direct supervision by
authorized personnel.
i)
In addition, student
violators are subject to expulsion, suspension and/or other disciplinary
actions.
j)
If violators have
broken Federal or State laws, the violation will be formally reported to the
proper legal authorities.
