System Security and Resource Limits

System Security

a)      Users are responsible for the use of their individual account and should take all reasonable precautions to prevent others from being able to use their account, including protecting the privacy of their password.

b)      Users must immediately notify the system administrator if they have identified a possible security problem.  Except for technical support, users may not go looking for security problems.  This may be construed as an illegal attempt to gain access.

c)      Users will avoid the inadvertent or intentional spread of computer viruses by following the Carteret County Public School System’s virus protection procedures.

Resou rce Limits

d)      Technology assets are the property of the Carteret County Public School System.  Personal customization, beyond what is necessary to carry out work, must be avoided.

e)      Users may download large files only with necessary permissions and network privileges.

f)       Users may not misuse school system, school, or personal distribution lists or discussion groups for sending non-educational, irrelevant or forwarded messages.

g)      Users must check their e-mail frequently and delete unwanted messages promptly.

h)      Users may subscribe only to approved, high quality discussion groups that are relevant to their education or professional/career development.
