Guided Practice:

  1. Teacher shows students citation on overhead, explaining each item and showing how each can be found on the sample article from the Internet.
  2. Teacher writes out sample citation on the board

Independent Practice:

  1. Teacher hands out partially filled organizers to respective students.
  2. Teacher has students go to CNN website from Favorites.
  3. Students search various links with teacher guidance until they find one that has information pertinent to their essay.
  4. Students fill in remaining sub-topic and details sections of their graphic organizer.
  5. Students use model of citation to locate information needed for their bibliography, listing it on back of organizer for inclusion later in their bibliography. Refer often to citation on board.
