understand charts, tables and/or graphs.
2. Students will identify when the use of
a calculator is needed.
3. Students will be able to compare
information on a chart.
4. Students will review the use of their
addition and subtraction skills when answering some
questions from
the charts and graphs.
5. Students will use the computer to
learn how to graph information.
Materials/Resources Needed :
1. A large teacher made chart for students to
see and use
2. Calculators for each student
3. Plain paper and pencils for each
student
Technology Resources Needed :
Computers for students to use.
ClarisWorks for Kids
(Graphing Pad and Pie Graph Programs which are
in
ClarisWorks for Kids)
Pre Activities :
1. Students should already be familiar
with computers.
2. Students should be familiar with how to use
calculators.
3. Students should know word meanings of
certain math terminology words. (examples: chart,
greater than,
less than,
compare, least, most, fewer )
Activities :

greater than,
less than, fewest, greatest, and least.
3. The student will also use the chart
information to create a graph on the computer.
4. Students will create/write their own
questions using the teacher made chart.
5. As a homework assignment, students
will collect and organize information to display on
their own graph or chart. This should be done on paper
and on the computer using the graphing programs in
ClarisWorks for Kids.
Assessment :
