BRIEF DESCRIPTION: This is an introduction to the classroom
teacher’s web page, that will provide information about the school
and classroom.
APPROXIMATE TIME REQUIRED: 30 minutes
TECHNOLOGY:
2.1 Use technology tools to collect, analyze, and display data.
2.10 Use search strategies to locate information electronically.
3.5 Evaluate information found via
telecommunications for content and usefulness.
TEACHER’S LESSON GOALS/ OBJECTIVES: The student will learn
how to access the classroom teacher’s web page for further
reference.
MATERIALS/RESOURCES NEEDED: Computer with Internet access
PRE-ACTIVITIES:
- Students have already applied prior knowledge
to log in teacher web address on the computer to avoid Internet
delays.
- Students, as a group, brainstorm, discuss and come up with a
set of criteria for what should be included on a Teacher's web
page.
ACTIVITIES:
- The students will use their knowledge of the
Internet to access the Teacher's website.
- While on the site the students will
go through the different paths on the site such as: Homework,
Calendar, Announcements, and Links.
- Students use their criteria sheet to check the teacher's page
as they go through the website.
- While using the Links pathway, the students will enter the website that incorporates the study
of the novel, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
- This website
will allow the children to explore the other books in the Narnia
series, as well as inside information about the characters of these
books.
- Students use search strategies to find other related on The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
CLOSURE: After all of the students have explored the links
and the teacher web page, remind the students that they can check
back to the website at their convenience.
ASSESSMENT:
- Students evaluated the information
on the teacher's web for content and usefulness. (criteria sheet
completed)
- Students were able to successfully locate
their information electronically using search strategies.
