Brief Description: Students explore our school’s website including their teachers’ webpages.

Approximate time required: 45 min.

SCOS goals and objectives
Technology:
4.2.10 Use search strategies to locate information electronically.
5.1.1 Recognize the influence of technology on life in the United States.
5.2.2 Explain the differences between a non-networked and networked computer.
5.3.7 Evaluate information found via telecommunications for appropriateness, content, and usefulness.

Teachers Lesson Plan:

Introduction - Discuss ways technology plays a role in education and our daily lives today. Tell students today we will explore our school’s website as well as teacher webpages.
Steps - 

  1. Log on.
  2. Double click on large e for internet explorer. {Seadog page appears}
  3. Click on NEW! BES Quiz Bowl.
  4. Ask student to read BES Quiz Bowl article.
  5. Click on Back.
  6. Students choose other topics to explore such as school lunch menu or weather.
  7. Click back to home page.
  8. Find Teacher Websites. 
  9. Select Teacher's web site and click GO.
  10. Single click on announcements. Students read info and click Back.
  11. Single click on homework. Students read info and click Back.
  12. Single click on links. Students read info and click Back twice to return to BES home page.
  13. Students may then go to their other teachers’ webpages and e-mail them if they wish.
  14. Log off.

Closure - Distribute sheets for students to take home that tell how to locate my website.
