Teacher's Lesson Goals/Objectives:
Students will be able to use several medians to research housing
choices.

Activities:
Day 1
The topic will be introduced to the students. We will discuss our
wants and needs for housing. We will then look at the
different types of housing available.
Day 2
We will look at the pros and cons of renting vs. owning. Next
we will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the different
types of housing.
Day 3
Class will look at "how much home can you afford"?
We will look at conventional loans, HUD, Habitat, VA, FHA and owner
financed.
Day 4
We will investigate different homes across the U.S. using the
Internet to research real estate web sites. We will be able to
check information about the home itself, as well as, the
neighborhood, schools, and recreation. Some sites offer
virtual reality walk throughs of the home itself.
Day 5
Today we will look at manufactured housing. We will use
several Internet sites to look at different styles of homes.
Some sights allow the viewer to change the exterior finishes. as
well as, the interior of the home. Students will experiment
and share their work with the group.
Day 6
Each student will express their feelings of how the computer has
enlightened them to what is available in the housing industry.
They will also express any concerns they may have about the use of
the computer in housing selection.
Conclusion:
The class will complete a journal entry of their feelings of the
success of their search for housing and how the use of technology
may have assisted their search. They will compare it in
relation to using the "norms" for housing searches.
