Subjects included in this Lesson Plan: Technology, math, ELA

Brief Description: Students will recognize the part of the computer, type their names and their lunch numbers.

Approximate time required: 20 minutes

Standard Course of Study Goals and Objectives 

Technology
1.1 Identify the computer as a machine that helps people work and play. (SI)
1.2 Identify the physical components of a computer system. (SI)
1.4 Demonstrate correct care and use of computers. (SI)
2.1 Locate and use letters, numbers, and special keys on a keyboard. (KU/WP/DTP)

ELA
1.03 Demonstrate decoding and word recognition strategies and skills: *recognize and name upper and lower case letters of the alphabet.

Math
1.04 Recognize numerals and match to sets 0 - 10.
1.05 Write numerals 0-9 in meaningful contexts.

Teacher's Lesson Goals/Objectives: The student will Identify parts of the computer, type their name and their lunch number using the keyboard

Materials/Resources Needed: Computer Lab

Pre Activities: Walk through the computer lab explaining the purpose of the lab.

Activities

  1. Introduce computers and their care.
  2. Introduce parts of the computer.
  3. Students identify parts of computer
  4. Using the keyboard, the students will find the letters they use to write their name and their lunch number.
  5. If time, students will find and identify numbers 1-10.

Closure: Review of parts and care.

Assessment: Teacher observation of identification of parts, letters and numbers.
