At this time of the year, our focus is reading emergent readers.  Your child will be bringing home "reading" books to read to you each day.  Talking about the book helps your child develop comprehension skills.  Ask questions such as:

• Who are the characters in this book?

• Where does this story take place?

• Is there a problem in this story?  If so, what is it?

• If there is a problem, how is the problem solved?

• Why do you think the author wrote this book?  What was he/she trying to tell/teach us?

• Does this book remind you of anything that's happened to you or of another book?

• Tell me what happened first, next, last in the story.
