Sleepy Creek Animal Summer Data
Data Analyzes Our group was responsible for analyzing the Sleepy Creek/ Straits. traits animal data. Our first question was if the number of fish caught in Sleepy Creek, the area closed to trawling, in the fall was different than the number of fish caught in Straits, the area open to trawling in the fall. Statistically there was no difference in the number of fish caught. The total number of fish caught in Sleepy Creek was 21 and in Straits 20, but there was not a statically difference according to the t-test. The second question we analyzed was, is there a greater number of fish caught in Straits or MCO during the summer. Straits is also open to trawling. In Straits there was 20 fish caught and in MCO there was 85 fish caught. Statistically there was a difference so we rejected the null. Next we compared the two areas closed to trawling, Sleep Creek and MCC. The third question was if there was a difference in the number of fish caught in Sleepy Creek and MCC during the summer. In Sleepy Creek they caught 930 and in MCC they caught 93 fish. About ten times were caught in sleepy Creek than MCC during the summer. The last question we analyzed was if there were more fish caught in Straits or Sleepy Creek in the summer and fall combined. Straits is open to trawling and Sleepy Creek is closed to trawling. We discovered that there were more fish caught in Sleepy Creek. There were 80 fish caught in Straits and 951 in Sleepy Creek Closed. |
