Class and Homework Assignments for
Mrs. McIntosh |
WEEK OF NOVEMBER 26-30:
Don't forget that the permission slip and money ($25.00) for the December 18th field trip to Raleigh is due by November 28th.
Food Drive begins! Please bring in canned goods to help feed a family in need this Christmas.
This week in class we will be doing a continental drift activity that will require students to map fossil findings and attempt to reconstruct what Pangaea may have looked liked based on the fossil evidence. From there we will move into sea-floor spreading to better understand how we can actually measure the Earth's crust moving.
WEEK OF DECEMBER 3-7:
Penny Drive will run all week. Be sure to bring in plenty of pennies into your homeroom, but don't forget to "bomb" the other homerooms with silver and paper money as well. Every penny adds up so please do what you can.
This week in class we will begin to put all of the information we have learned together to understand plate tectonics. We will spend a lot of time learning about the different kind of plate boundaries and the resulting landforms created at those boundaries.
This week you will have ONLY 2 DAYS to work on your landform research project. We will be going to the computer lab on Monday and Wednesday. What does not get completed in class will be done as homework. You will be expected to present you project (either a powerpoint or poster) in class on Wednesday, December 12. Below is a copy of the score sheet students were given:

This is the score sheet that will be used for grading your presentation. You will be required to turn this sheet back into me at the time of you presentation. Therefore there are NO excuses for NOT knowing what is expected of you throughout this project.
Here are a couple of points that should be followed throughout the preparing for and presentation of you project:
1. Your PowerPoint presentation or poster should consist of primarily PICTURES, NOT WORDS. It is your job to be able to EXPLAIN your project using the pictures as a reference for the class to understand what you are talking about.
2. Be sure to meet the requirements listed above --- this is your grade!
3. Use your time wisely to be able to adequately prepare and complete your project ON TIME.
WEEK OF DECEMBER 10-14:
This week we will complete the unit: Dynamic Earth and will be testing to assess student comprehension and mastery of the concepts presented throughout the unit.
Don't forget to complete your study guide and have it signed by a parent to receive extra credit points on the test! TEST WILL BE ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 11.
LANDFORM PROJECTS WILL BE PRESENTED ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 12!!! Remember, you have the option to dress for success (as if you were going to a job interview), which can earn you up to 5 extra credit points on your presentation grade.
