What is PowerBall ?

[PowerBall is an OPTIONAL grading strategy used in science and is NOT REQUIRED as part of the science grading system. Questions that arise during class discussion can often provide a quick research opportunity for the students. If the question posed is considered to be a PowerBall question, it will be posted in the classroom for the duration of the current marking period. Students must independently use resources available to them to locate the correct documentation to the question. Students may use books, magazines, newspapers, and computer encyclopedias from the school's media center. Once the correct answer has been located, the student must SHOW the documentation to the teacher. Handwritten answers will not be accepted. While the Internet may be used to locate PowerBall answers, access to the Internet is not a requirement to complete PowerBall. Students may receive two to three points for each correct PowerBall answer. These additional points are added to the final marking period science average.]
