Daily grammar practice, vocabulary in context, Test on Hatchet chapters 9-12, Continue reading our novel, Hatchet, and locating vocabulary words as we read. Students will define the words before our test on chapters 13-16. Contract Book test on Friday . Students need to read daily at home.

Daily grammar practice, vocabulary in context,  continue reading Hatchet, locating vocabulary words, and defining the words. Test on Chapters 13-16 later this week. Students need to read daily at home.

Daily grammar practice, vocabulary in context,  Complete reading Hatchet, locating vocabulary words, and defining the words. Final test on Hatchet.  Students need to read daily at home.

Daily grammar practice, vocabulary in context. Finish Hatchet activities, Contract Test on Friday (biography) . Students need to read daily at home.

Week of October 29th:
We will continue our discussion and use of the metric system.  Students will practice using meters, centimeters, and millimeters in class. 

Notebook Quiz Tuesday!!!  All work should be turned in by Tuesday afternoon.  Tuesday is the end of the nine weeks.

Wednesday is an early release.  Happy Halloween!!!

We will clean out science notebooks on Wednesday.  All students should have organized binders!!

Students will practice using graduated cylinders, test tubes, and beakers in class. 

Go outside and PLAY!!!!

Week of November 5th:
Monday-  Students will apply what they have learned about measuring capacity using metric units.  Page 9 should be turned in.

Tuesday-  Students will learn to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius.  They will discover how thermometers work and the difference between heat and temperature.  Please work with your student on converting.  This is in their notes on page 10 (with sample problems)! 

Wednesday- REPORT CARDS go home.  Please return them to school on Thursday.  Mrs. Delorier will be in science class today to discuss honesty and integrity.

Thursday- We will continue our discussion of Celsius and practice conversion problems.  Students will measure various temperatures in Celsius and convert these measurements to Fahrenheit.  Study for tomorrow's quiz!!!!!

Homework Thursday-  complete 1-4 conversion problems (1-3 for core 1). 

Friday-We will have a short quiz on conversions today!!  Students will be provided the formula for conversions but will need to know how to use them. 

Nature Journal Due November 9.

No School Monday.  Thank a veteran!!

Tuesday- we will practice conversions again today!!

Wednesday-  review for metrics test (hands-on application in class to prepare for Friday)  Students should study notes in their notebook to prepare.  DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO STUDY!!

Thursday-review for metrics test (conversions using King Henry's Belt and temperature conversions).  A study guide will be provided and should be used to study for tomorrow's test!!

Week of October 29th:

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! We will take a break from our European project (M-W) and allow students an opportunity to apply their newfound geography knowledge as they create globes using pumpkins as a spherical canvas. Students will be expected to spatially place continents, oceans, the Equator, the Prime Meridian, parallels, meridians, and other features in their appropriate spot and highlight major cities and geographic addresses. If I survive Halloween, we will spend Thurs. & Fri. in the computer lab adding the final touches to our power point presentations.

Week of November 5th:
Students begin working with world climates and learn about zones of latitude and factors that contribute to changes in climate. Students are evaluating a variety of maps and gaining understanding of how climate affects societies. (Group activity)
Week of November 12th:
Due to computer testing, we had to take a break from working on our power point research projects. We will resume our efforts this week and finish the historical timelines and economic factors relating to our chosen European country.  Students will edit and be prepared to present projects next week.
Week of November 19th:
Happy Thanksgiving!! Groups will share their power point presentations with the whole class and will be actively involved recording facts/concepts about European countries when their peers are presenting.
Week of November 26th:
"Anne Frank" field trip- We will spend our time leading up to Thursday learning about the holocaust and Anne Frank.  This background knowledge will serve as a building block for learning new information about the holocaust from the play.
Week of December 3rd:
Revisit "Climate" unit and read global accounts of the negative effects of current trends in climate changes. Students will work interdependently posing possible solutions to the problem. Students will start learning the location of European countries as they continue to work with political maps specific to Europe.
Week of December 10th:
"Holiday Traditions Around the World" (Europe and South America) Students will "journey" around the world learning about  customs specific to European countries. Students will be encouraged to make connections between U.S. traditions and others practiced around the world.
