6th Grade English Language Arts and Math

English Language Arts:  Anderson
Monday, December 1st

Cores 1 and 4 will begin a novel study of Gary Paulsen's, Hatchet.  We will watch a video on the geography of Canada to acquaint students with the setting of the book, the Canadian wilderness.  Students will write from a prompt about being stranded in the Canadian wilderness, what their greatest challenge would be, and how they would meet that challenge.

Homework:  Reading Log and finish writing assignment.

Tuesday, December 2nd

Vocabulary for chapters 1-4 will be introduced.  We will begin reading the novel, Hatchet.

Wednesday, December 3rd

Continue Hatchet.  We will be discussing how to write answers to comprehension questions in COMPLETE SENTENCES!  Comprehension questions for Chapters 1-4.

Thursday, December 4th

Today is library day.  Don't forget your books.  Remember, 3 AR Tests are required this 9 weeks.

Friday, December 5th

Monday, December 1st.

 Decimals as Fractions today.  Vocabulary:  Mixed numbers, terminating and repeating decimals.  Students will be take a multiplication timed test on the 4's table.  If they missed any of last week's facts (3's table) , those will be added to this week's test. DON"T FORGET TO KEEP PRACTICING THOSE MULTIPLICTION FACTS!!! 

Homework:  Workbook page 28 (1-12 even)

Tuesday, December 2nd

Equivalent fractions and Mixed numbers.  Vocabulary:  Equivalent fractions, Simplest Form.  I can't stress enough how important it is for students to know their multiplication facts to be successful this year.

Wednesday, December 3rd

We will begin reviewing everything covered up to this point in Chapter 4.  This includes:  Divisibility Rules and Application, Prime and Composite Numbers, Factoring, Prime Factorization, Greatest Common Factor, Decimals and Fractions, Mixed Numbers, Equivalent Fractions, and Ordering and Comparing Fractions.  Test on Friday.  STUDY!!!! 

Homework:  Study for Friday's test.

Thursday, December 4th

Review for test on Friday.

Friday, December 5th

Timed test on 4's multiplication facts.
