Week of 9/15 - Monday-United Streaming Video-Understanding Globes and Maps. Students will complete a video quiz which will serve as their study guide for Friday's test. On Tuesday, students will practice locating latitude and longitude on a map and recognizing geographic addresses of places around the globe. Officer Willis will kick-off the 13 week G.R.E.A.T. program on Wednesday, we'll review geography concepts on Thursday, and test on Friday.

Homework: Study each night!!

 

Week of 9/22 - 5Themes of Geography PLACE-Physical features of South America

Students will work in packets with LOCATION and will begin working in text Chapter 1, sections 1 and 2 exploring the physical features of South America.

 

 

Week of 9/29- Monday-United Streaming-The Geography and Culture of South America- Study guide question activity (partners)

Tuesday-T-Chart-Students will evaluate the Physical and Human features of South America

Wednesday-G.R.E.A.T.-Officer Willis

Thursday-Review LOCATION and PLACE - South America

Friday-Test - Enjoy expository texts on the culture of South America

 

Week of 10/6-  5 Themes of Geography PowerPoint Projects- Students will explore one South American country through the 5 Themes of Geography. Students will research information relevant to the themes and be prepared to create PowerPoint slides on Thursday when we visit the computer lab. We will present our countries to the class on Friday.

 

 

 

10/20 -  The Incas of South America- Working with books from Discovery Kids The Incas, students will explore the beginnings of  and accomplishments made by this ancient civilization. We will determine many lasting contributions to both past and future societies.

 

Weeks of 11/3 - 11/14  - Around the World in 10 Days ... Students will rotate around 5 stations which are designed to strengthen map/globe skills, heighten global awareness, and expand overall  

geography knowledge. The work completed in each station will be compiled and counted as a single

project grade. Students will also be allowed to use their completed packet as a resource during the unit

test.
