HOMEWORK
In order to successfully meet each child's speech goals, homework practice is very important. Speech homework also allows you the opportunity to know what your child is working on in speech therapy and what he is capable of achieving. Students should practice their speech homework each night for approximately 10 minutes. If the student returns his/her homework with a parent's, guardian's or caretaker's signature, the child will receive a sticker (these stickers will accumulate to earn prizes) and a new homework assignment. We do not want any student or parent to become frustrated, so if there is any difficulty completing the assignment, please make a note on the homework sheet, sign it and return the homework on your child's next day of scheduled speech therapy. If a student does not return his/her homework for 3 consecutive speech therapy sessions, the classroom teacher and speech pathologist will determine a consequence (usually sitting out during a student earned activity on days that the student attends speech until the homework is returned). Parents, please leave the previous homework sheets in the students' notebooks so that his/her speech clinician will know which words, phrases, sentences or assignments we have already provided for practice. If the notebook is getting too full, we will staple the papers together and make a note that these papers can be removed.
