"READING RULES"
Following are some spelling and reading "rules" that your children have learned at school. Remember there can always be exceptions to every rule.
FSZL rule
When a one syllable short vowel ends with a f----s---z---or l. Double it.

When a one syllable short vowel word ends with a /k/ sound, spell it with a ck.

When a one syllable short vowel word ends with one consonant and has one syllable ,double it before adding the suffix ed and ing.
