October 23, we are visiting Quinn's Market with the Preschool class! You will need $2.50 for the cost, and we will bring back a pumpking, some apples, and get a hayride! |

Dental Screening during school on November 6.
We will visit Beaufort for the Historical Days exhibit. Your child will need a packed lunch for a trip to Shevan's Park. This trip will be November7. Parents, I am going to another two day workshop in New Bern on November 19 and November 20. Debbie Williams will be your child's substitute teacher. She is a great teacher, and enjoyed her last visit. Mrs. Newton will be here to assist her. I will see your child on the early release day, November 21.

Please remember your scheduled appointment to meet with Mrs. Hollen on January 31, February 1, or February 8. I will be discussing your child's progress and reviewing the first report card.
We will be having class pictures on February 5.
February will be a very busy month: Heart awareness; dental health awareness; President's Day; the 100th day of school (Feb. 5); Valentine's Day....we are busy!
Our Valentine exchange will be on February 14. Please bring a card for every student in the room. We will have fun sharing and reading all of our valentine cards.
We are learning how to take care of our teeth and heart. We can do a good job by choosing healthy foods, getting enough sleep, playing outside, brushing our teeth twice a day, visiting a dentist NOW, and teaching others about what we learn.

New Bern Civic Theater: We are traveling there to see a live stage production. We are so excited to offer this experience to your child. Cost is $3.00.

Oh my, it is almost Kindergarten Zoo Day!!
We love to pretend we are "big game hunting" and searching for wild animals. We will have a zoo safari on March 7, or early release day. Fun and games, and prizes too! If you would like to help with a game, please let me know soon. You need to commit to a two hour block, from 8:30-10:30.
Our Spring Fling will be Friday, March 21. It is an early release day also...have a wonderful, warm, and relaxing spring break.
We are headed to the farm...the Kirkman Farm on April 15. This trip will have a cost of $5.00 per child, as well as any adult wishing to chaperone. Permission slips will come home after spring vacation.
May is almost here...can you believe it!? We have two final field trips planned for this school year. May 1 we will go to Ft. Macon beach for a "turtle talk" by a park ranger, have lunch, and explore the sandy beach. May 6 we will go back to visit Quinn's market to pick strawberries and have fun with other activities. Permission slips will come home soon, please initial and send back as soon as possible. The only cost will be approximately $2.50 for the strawberry picking. No cost for the Ft. Macon beach visit.

End of the year events:
No school on May 26, Memorial Day
Conference week: check your scheduled appointment for date and time
June 2: field day...dress your child in gym shoes and shorts/t-shirt
June 3: Luau Day...we will have games and fun activities during our school day
June 5: Family Picnic night...5:00-7:00....eat in cafeteria, then to your child's room for certificates and awards
June 6: early release and last day of Kindergarten!!
