Homework
-
All
students are bringing a small book home to read each night. Have him/her read it to you. Your new reader can
tap out (sound out) most of the words in these books. You only need to help with an
occasional sight word or two. Sign the book log. It
gives your child a homework sticker.
- Read
to your child every day.
Any book that your child likes
is a
good book. Ask your child questions about the story.
-
Practice
sight words in your child's sight word bag. These are commonly used, but irregularly spelled,
words that can't be sounded out. Have your child learn 5 a week.
Lists are available on this class web at:
http://www.carteretcountyschools.org/nes/teacherwebs/ghook/sightwords.htm
or click on sight words on the index page.
