Homework
- Read
to your child every day.
Any book that your child likes
is a
good book. Ask your child questions about the story.
- As your
child begins to be able to read to you, help him/her sound out decodable
words, and use picture clues to support more difficult words.
-
Practice
sight words with your child. All of the first grade teachers are
working on sight words with their students, and have probably sent a
list of words to learn home. Lists are also available on this class web at:
http://www.carteretcountyschools.org/nes/teacherwebs/ghook/sightwords.htm
or click on sight words on my home page.
-
Support
your child in any homework he brings home. Go over it with
him/her. Help as needed. Make sure homework is done every
night.
