All About Me... |

I was born in South Carolina to David and Nita Battle, an active duty marine and his wife. We moved to N.C. when I was a year old and have been here ever since. My family built a home in Bear Creek (near Swansboro) when I was six and I attended Onslow County schools. This is my earliest memory of my passion for horses. That hasn't changed yet. As you can tell from viewing this web page, horses are the "e" in peace for me. My Dad was killed in action in Beirut, Lebanon when I was eleven. I graduated from Swansboro High School in 1990 and went to UNC-W earning a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. I went on after the birth and first two years of my daughter's life in 1997 to earn a teacher's license in Elementary Education from UNC-W. I began teaching in Onslow County in 1999 teaching 5th grade. After some divine intervention, I began taking classes and completed my special education license. I taught in regular education for 3 years and this is my 7th year in special education. I continue to live in Bear Creek with my husband Roy, daughter Mikayla, Doberman "Miaya," Great Dane "Merlin," and miniature Dachshund "Molly." I am also lucky enough to have an American Quarter Horse named "Mystic". I believe all students can learn if we as adults will support them without "giving" them the answers, see each child as an individual and most importantly, BELIEVE IN THEM so they will believe in themselves. I am so glad that I am being given a chance to be part of your child's life.
Sincerely, Amy B. Taylor
