General Information:
Newport Elementary School Media Center's collection has 18,000 volumes. Students may visit the Media Center as a class or in groups of 3 from their class with teacher's permission. We participate in the Accelerated Reader Program, and encourage students to set and meet their goals. Gold Medal Readers are chosen each month by their teachers.

Media Center Hours:
The Media Center is open school days from 8:15 until 3:30.

Checkout Policy:
Library books are checked out for a period of 2 weeks, after which they become overdue.  There is no fine for overdue materials, but students will not be permitted to check out new materials until overdue items are returned or renewed. 

Lost/Damaged Books:
    Students will be charged for the replacement cost of lost or damaged books, and check-out privileges will be suspended until charges are reconciled.

Overdue Notices:
    Overdue notices are printed and sent home with children once a month as a reminder to return or renew materials that have been out for a period of more than two weeks.
