There's a Volcano in the Courtyard!
Culminating a week of study about volcanoes can really be fun as these students show you in their smiles!
The students studied volcanoes (core, mantle, crust, magma, lava, mountains, earthquakes, faults and plates) all week. Then for "Fun Friday, they created a volcano from clay and simulated the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius above the city of Pompeii. Using baking soda and vinegar, their volcano "erupted" on cue.
On February 11th, the students will be talking about volcanoes and their feelings. These two ideas will be combined as they make Behavior Volcanoes. They will explore how to control "inner lava" (anger) by releasing "steam" through "vents". The goal is to protect others from the pain and suffering caused by an "erupting volcano" (angry outburst).
