Test scores
a.
Discussion
of Newport Elementary test scores began with handouts and explanation of ABC/AYP,
proficiency, growth and other terms of testing.
b.
Questions
were raised about the level of proficiency of NES student and discussion
followed. Initiative were presented
that NES has adopted: PBS, RTI, K-2
writing, professional learning communities common assessments.
3.
Construction
Review of Progress
a.
Council
members were given preconstruction meeting notes and were updated on the current
project that is underway – the classroom building.
HVAC and roofing has not yet begun on campus.

Members
shared concern for student safety and were reassured that the staff of NES is
vigilant in supervising students and never allowing a student to travel around
campus alone.
c.
Advisory
members supported the suggestion that girl scouts and other organizations not
meet on the school campus due to strangers being on campus working and the
children not having adequate supervision. This
would only be for the duration of the construction and other bond projects.
d.
The
council then toured the school to view the new construction project, retention
pond and playground.
