I was born and raised in Morehead City, North Carolina.  I married Robert Lancaster on July 13, 2002. The majority of our family lives in Carteret County.  I am an active member of the First United Methodist Church located in downtown Morehead.  I graduated from Louisburg College in May of 1997, University of North Carolina Wilmington in May of 2000, and I recently completed my master's degree from East Carolina University in Middle Grades English Education. I am serving as the team leader on the Starfish team.

I believe all students can learn and should be given the tools necessary for success.  I use a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate the needs of individual students.  I collaborate with my team, grade level, and other colleagues to ensure that I am using the best possible techniques and strategies with my learners.  Learning should allow students to make real-world connections and see how the disciplines relate to one another.   In the words of Whitney Houston "I believe the children are the future.  Teach them well and let them lead the way."
