Performance Task Two
OBJECTIVES:
1. To gather data from computer sources.
2. To graphically illustrate data
using maps.
3. To analyze maps in order to find
patterns, draw inferences, or to make generalizations.
4. To compare and contrast
information on maps.
DIRECTIONS:
1. Write the topic(s) you picked on
your data sheet in the form of a title. If you choose to do one map,
choose from column “A” on the
back of this sheet. If you choose to do two maps, choose the second
topic from column “B”.
2. Find and print data from World
Geograph II.
3. Transfer data from the computer
sheet to your data sheet.
4. Create a key(s) on your data
sheet(s) to be used on your map(s).
5. On the data sheet(s), put the
correct color in the blank beside each country according to your key.
6. On the map, put a title,
key, and fill in the countries with the appropriate color.
Do not label
the countries by name.
7.
Write and attach an analysis of the information on the map. Look for patterns, differences between
regions, and attempt to make
generalizations.
IF
YOU NEED HELP, ASK. I’M HERE TO HELP!
*8. If you choose to work for the “A” project, using the
method of your choice (line graphs would be
good), compare
the data from both of your maps. State whether there is a direct relationship,
indirect
relationship, or no relationship between the two topics and give evidence to
support your
conclusion.
GRADING POLICY:
1. To earn a grade of “C” (80 PTS.),
complete directions 1-7 for one map.
2. To earn a grade of “B” (90 PTS.),
complete directions 1-7 for two maps, each with a different topic.
3. To earn a grade of “A” (100
pts.), do the requirements for a “B” plus direction *8.
BY NOW IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING, BUT I’LL
SAY IT ANYWAY:
NEATNESS, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS,
FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS, AND APPEARANCE WILL BE CONSIDERED IN DETERMINING YOUR
GRADE.
