NEEDED!! OLD TENNIS BALLS AS LONG AS THEY ARE REASONABLY CLEAN.

In 7th Grade Social Studies we organize our studies into 6 broad units using the content area of Asia and Africa as the backdrop for our studies. We will begin with a unit on physical geography and complete that unit with an individual performance task as an assessment.

Our second unit will deal with how people adapt to and modify their environments. As with each unit, we will continue to look at different regions from our content area as we focus on this theme.

Our third unit deals with culture and the cultures of African peoples. Students will either complete a culture wheel or magazine project as their assessment for this unit.

Our fourth unit concentrates on the study of economics, especially as it relates to the Asian region. The final assessment grade will consist of several smaller assignments combined, most of which will be completed in class.

Our fifth unit concentrates on the study of forms of government especially as they relate to areas we study. This will primarily consist of independent study using the TIC TAC TOE Tasks sheet given to your child. We will have several days of research in the media center in order for the students to gather the information needed to complete the tasks. I am much more interested in quality than quantity or glitz. The tasks can be seen on the documents link.

Our final unit deals with the study of history. We will concentrate on major events in the history of Asia with an emphasis on their impact on the United States.
