(Phone)252-726-5983 Welcome to our Media Center! Check-out our new Library Blog! The mission of the Carteret County School's library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. The program is designed to support, complement, and enhance the mission, goals, objectives, and strategies of the total school system. At MMS, our regular hours are 7:30am to 3:30pm. Our combined fixed and flexible schedule allows student visits anytime during the day, with permission from their teacher. Students have scheduled visits to the Media Center once a week with their Language Arts class. Tuesday is 6th grade circulation, Wednesday is 7th grade circulation, and Thursday is 8th grade circulation. With busy student schedules, there is often little time for pleasure reading. The 25 minute SSR (Silent Sustained Reading) time during lunch class is to ensure and encourage a focus on reading. If a student has finished a book or taken an AR quiz, they are invited to return the book and check-out another during SSR. Students are allowed to borrow two books for two weeks. If a book becomes lost or damaged, a replacement fee is charged. If a book is later found and returned, the fee will be refunded.
