Mission Statement –

To facilitate optimal learning by encouraging emotional, behavioral and intellectual maturity with an emphasis on academic, career, personal and social development.

Meet the Counselors –

Ms. Carol Tabor has a Master of Arts in School Counseling and a Bachelors of Science in Middle School Education. Ms. Tabor is the senior counselor and the testing coordinator for Morehead City Middle School.  Ms. Tabor is assigned to students in the 6th grade and the 7th grade.

Mr. Marc Hart has a Master of Arts in School Counseling and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.  He is also a football and baseball coach at Morehead City Middle School.  Mr. Hart is assigned to students in the 7th grade and the 8th grade.

Ms. Tabor and Mr. Hart work together to provide the highest quality services. On a daily basis, they interact with students, teachers, parents and administrators. Their responsibilities include, though are not limited to individual and group counseling, consulting, scheduling, coordinating services and ensuring the guidance curriculum is taught to the students.

The counselors have expertise in the following areas:  Personal and Social Development, Academic Development and Career Development. They are a referral source for students and their families and are trained in crisis management.

Referrals –

Counselors will contact parents/guardians if they see a need for services beyond the school setting.

Contact –   

Due to the number of students attending Morehead City Middle School, Ms. Tabor and Mr. Hart  rely heavily on parents, teachers and students to make them aware of students who may need their services.

Parents can call the school, send a note to school or email their child’s counselor. 

Students can make an appointment to see their counselor by filling out an appointment card. Appointment cards are located outside counselors’ offices. Students may also request to see their counselor during Focus, Lunch, PE, Band or during any electives by asking their teacher.
