ACADEMIC PROGRAMS.
- Reading Lab –
Small groups of five to seven students in grades 2 and 3 work in the Title I
reading Lab for direct reading, writing and math assistance daily.
- "START"
– Small groups of 1st grade students meet with a Title I teacher for 30 minutes daily for direct reading and writing instruction.
- ESL –
Children whose primary language is not English represent a steadily increasing
percentage of students enrolled in Carteret County.. Our ESL program is
designed to give these students the needed skills to communicate and function
effectively in the English speaking environment. It is the goal of the program
to develop proficiency in listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and
writing. At Morehead City Primary, small groups of students are pulled out of
their regular classes for ESL instruction with a certified ESL
instructor.
