The LENC Teachers and Participants have created Units of Practice
using the model described below. Take a look at their creative efforts:

The Unit of Practice (UOP), developed by researchers at the
Apple Classroom of Tomorrow (ACOT), is defined by the following elements:

INVITATION ATTENTION GRABBER!  THE HOOK!  Briefly describe the project in an inviting way.  How/why will this unit have a significant impact on student learning?
TASKS
What is the nature of the student work required by the teacher?
INTERACTIONS Who talks and works with whom? Who initiates interactions? Are students in groups, teams or do they work individually while working on the task?
SITUATIONS  Environment(s): Where will the learning take place?
Time Frame:  What is your time frame for the lesson or unit?
TOOLS What materials are provided to support the representation of ideas?
STANDARDS What objectives are set for learners? Use local, district, state and national outcomes that are served by the activity. (A technology component is required).
ASSESSMENT What students' work will be evaluated?  How will the students' work be evaluated? The use of authentic assessments is encouraged for this type of teaching.
