Did you know that the ball field across from Atlantic Elementary has been
there since the 1940's? There used to be a stadium that was built
in the 1940's on that site. Baseball teams used to play there many
years ago. Mr. Elmo Gaskill said he used to play on a team and played
on that field. The field is called Pirates Field. It wasn't
used for a long time and the woods took it over. Some people from
the community came together and cleaned it up again. It is being
used once more for ball practices. The field was used by both boy's
and girl's teams.
