East Carteret Twilight School Success Academy

Our Goals:

• Recover credits due to course failure or attendance violation

• Individualized learning to master academic skills and learn core course content

• Keep all students on track for graduation with a 100% graduation rate

• Start students on a higher learning or career path

 Eligibility for Twilight School is based on:

• Behind in credits

• Behind in grade level

• Out of sync with graduation cohort

 To be considered for the School:

• All grade levels are eligible; however, priority will be give to juniors and seniors.  The program will serve 20 students per semester.

• Students taking EOC courses must take state mandated test, and exit standards apply.

• Referrals and recommendations will be obtained from teachers, counselors, administrators, and parents/guardians.

• Student interviews will be conducted to determine the student’s willingness to work hard and follow ECHS policies.

 Academic Staff:

• 4 Academic Teachers (Math, English, Social Studies, Science) will rotate and work one-day a week from 3:00 pm – 7:00pm, Monday- Thursday.

• An At-Risk Student Coordinator and Security Officer will be present, as well.

 Curriculum:

• OdysseyWare curriculum for their courses.  They will have the potential to recover 2 credits per semester.

• OdysseyWare  lets the student work independently, at his/her own pace, uses multiple learning styles (sound, visual, hands-on), follows NC course of study, simple to use, and tracks grades and attendance.

Courses Available:

• Math – Intro to Math, Tech Math, Algebra I, Geometry,  Algebra II

• English – English I, II, III, IV

• Social Studies – World Geography, World History, Civics, US History

• Science – Physical Science, Biology, Earth Science, Chemistry
