General Bond
Project Information
Carteret County Commissioners approved two school bond issues totaling
$50 million subject to voter approval. Voters from across the county overwhelming
approved both bond questions on election day - November 8, 2005..
The bond projects were developed based on three studies. Institutional
Resources Inc. was hired by the Carteret County Commissioners to
independently assess all school system sites and document needs. That
report was combined with two other professional studies - one on roofs
and one on heating/air conditioning/humidity - and the resulting
assessments made up the two bond questions.
Around 72 percent of the bond projects address health and safety
issues for students and staff. The remaining 28 percent of the
projects address overcrowding and safety concerns in schools.
